The Occupational Therapy Program had its 4th Pinning Ceremony and Parents Orientation for Interns Batch 2017-2018 together with the program’s faculty, staff, 5th year students and parents. The event was held at DDC AVR last Saturday, May 20, 2017.
The event was an occasion to celebrate another milestone in the academic life of the students. They have hurdled their academic/ classroom courses satisfactorily. Four long years have passed and pretty soon this group of Occupational Therapy students will embark on a new journey towards the fulfillment of their chosen career. This event aims to prepare and guide them along this journey. While it is true that they have the skills and knowledge necessary to pass their past classroom subjects, still a lot will be required in order to hone these students to become the ideal OT professional.
This yearly activity of the OT program aims to address the need for the students/ interns on the policies and guidelines of the Internship Program as well as to acquaint the parents/ guardians regarding this shared responsibility of nurturing the interns.
The incoming months will be exciting as they face the real world of the Occupational Therapy Profession. They will experience clinic work at the same time tackle their academics and pass the revalida exams.
Tall order, isn’t it? It requires a lot of sacrifice, hard work and discipline. The interns were reminded with this quote from Vincent Van Gogh, “Whoever loves much, performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well.”
