Davao Doctors College is known for being a prestigious school for healthcare. Last June 2016, the school was successfully permitted by the Department of Education (DepEd) to offer Senior High School Program for Grade XI. It started with 11 sections for four academic strands- STEM, HUMSS, ABM, and GAS. Remarkably, the DepEd granted the permit to open the Senior High School Program for Grade XII. From 11 sections in SY 2016-2017, Grade XI has now 24 sections composing of 1,108 students: 13 sections – STEM, 5 sections – HUMMS, 5 sections – ABM and 1 section – GAS. On the other hand, Grade XII has 387 students: 6 sections – STEM, 2 SECTIONS – HUMMS, 2 sections – ABM, 1 section – GAS (as of May 31, 2017).
On May 1, 2017, Cathleen Mae R. Pineda, LPT, RN, MN was appointed Principal for Senior High School, replacing Ruben Fajardo, who chose to enroll in the law school after attaining his Doctorate degree.
In a meeting on May 30, 2017 Miguel D. Soledad, MBM, MPA, President and CEO announced the promotion of Miss Angelica L. Torres as Vice-President for Basic Education, Extension and Administration, effective June 1, 2017.
Moreover, the DDC is being recognized for participating contests in different fields. On May 12, 2017, Brigitte Flor C. Mercene, Grade XI – Aphrodite (GAS) participated the Slimmers World Miss Bikini Philippines 2017 and won as the First Runner-up.
DDC has also attained awards in dance competitions. Diosdado P. Monroid Jr. and Maria Almira Isabella C. Dumapias both of Grade XI – Poseidon were declared Champion in the 6th MADSEI (Mindanao Association of Dancesport Educators, Inc.) Inter-School Dancesport Competition Latin-American Category held at UIC, Davao City last March 4, 2017. Likewise, Mel Oliver S. Ortega and Kathlyn Camille Y. Lee, Grade XI section Zeus and Poseidon respectively came out Champions in the Kadayawan MADSEI Inter-School Dancesport Competition Modern-Standard Category. Lastly, Said B. Hassan and Angel Margaret S. Lorilla of Grade XI sections Hermes and Heracles respectively were also declared Champion in the Kadayawan MADSEI Inter-School Dancesport Competition Beginner Latin-American Category.
